A number of years have passed since BlueFlameDesign has heard the phrase, Pop Up Horsham. So, imagine our surprise when we received a call to discuss the opportunity of reviving the scheme.
Back in 2015, BlueFlameDesign was approached to lead the brand strategy and creative design for the original Pop Up Horsham. A scheme that was the brainchild of savvy entrepreneur Charley Crocker to enable a wide range of fledgeling business types to gain their first experience of trading on the high street.
Moving forward to the present day, we know that the Covid-19 pandemic affected a wide range of businesses, but one positive trend from the crisis has been a surge in new business start-ups. Pop Up Horsham creates an ideal opportunity to support those who have been made redundant and started a new business within the past eighteen months.
The new Pop Up Horsham 2021 initiative has been rejuvenated, funded, backed and run by Horsham District Council as part of its post-COVID Economic Recovery Strategy, led by Pop Up Horsham Founder and Project Manager, Charley Crocker.
The Pop Up Horsham Creative Management Team, led by Charley, are independent consultants and local industry leaders. Brand and Design Consultant, Matt Bennett of BlueFlameDesign and Creative Strategy Consultant, Laura Bennett of Go Plan B.
BlueFlameDesign were asked to rejuvenate the Pop Up Horsham brand and logo design. Brand Consultant, Matt Bennett, commented: ‘We wanted to take a step away from the contemporary retail environment and design a logo that was personable to each individual. The Pop Up Horsham store has an eclectic mix of tenants including those within the travel, entertainment, well-being, creative or hospitality industries. The initiative aims to support those trying to grow their business whether it be working around family commitments, a full-time job, or supporting those who are struggling to gain confidence to take their products out onto the high street. We want shoppers to love and visit their local high street again. To talk about Pop Up Horsham and recommend visiting the store to others.’
Working with Laura from Go Plan B, we were able to maintain brand consistency between the print and online marketing activities. Go Plan B created website and marketing content, media, marketing, and social media plans to deliver the shop from concept to launch. This also included the creation of three social media walls in the store to support organic sharing on social media platforms and to attract attention. Creating email content and planning the Pop Up Horsham launch event which included BBC’s The One Show attendance.
BlueFlameDesign kept the brand consistently on-point offline with the design and production of social media graphics, posters and signage, store-front fascia signage and window decals and graphics, Covid safety posters and floor stickers, tenant information guides and info sheets, tenant logo boards for display in-store and a general information brochure.
Teaming up with South Downs Web, the final piece was to design and develop a mobile optimised website which can be viewed at www.popuphorsham.co.uk
